Score 17.5/20, Radda in Chianti. 100% Sangiovese. Just mid ruby. Minerally, cool, balsamic, sweet nose with hints of spice and iron. Elegant, fluid sweet fruit with beautifully integrated acidity and velvety tannins. Gorgeous and elegant. (WS)

Score 17.5/20, Radda in Chianti. 95% Sangiovese, 5% Cannaiolo. Youthful looking and just mid ruby. Subtle perfumed nose and gorgeous, fresh and lithe raspberry fruit on the palate, underpinned by lots of chewy tannins. Hedonistic yet elegant, fine, perfumed and long. Drink now, while it is so pretty. (WS)

Score 17++/20. Radda in Chianti. Healthy mid ruby. A little brooding and perfumed on the nose. Attention-grabbing, gripping and fresh red fruit palate. Burgundian in style. Wonderful length, style and vibrancy. (WS)

Score 17+/20. Just mid ruby. Beautiful nose of rosehip, cherry and meat. Precise and perfectly balanced palate with beautiful, fine tannins. Wonderful focus and ready now. (WS)

Score 17.5/20. Just mid ruby. Very fine, sweetly perfumed nose laced with spice and oatmeal. Lots of depth here. Wonderful, elegant and playful palate that strikes a perfect balance between the fine ripe fruit, acidity and powdery tannins. Real energy on the finish. An estate to watch. (Walter Speller)

Score 16/20. Sweetly-perfumed ripe strawberry. Sweet perfume and just a little jammy, but with good acidity and minerally notes on the finish. (WS)

Score 17+/20. Radda. Youthful light crimson. Gripping, tight nose with a hint of pepper and orange skin. Vibrant fruit and wonderful crunchy tannins on the finish. A little unpolished. Impressive for the vintage and with loads of potential. (WS)

Score 16.5/20. Healthy mid ruby with orange tinges. Fine sweet nose with hints of stalks. Very backward on the palate. A little austere but suits it. Very young and tight and elegant. (WS)

 

Val delle Corti, Chianti Classico 2008

Score 16.5/20, 95% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo. Cask sample. Oenologist Sean O’Callaghan. Light ruby with violet reflexes. Heady dark fruit and earth nose. Earthy impression lingers on the high acidity palate. Angular. Difficult to forecast its development, but lingering finish seems to bode well for the future. (WS)
